Vernita Roady, 89, of Colona, died Sunday, Oct. 14, 2012, at Hope Creek Care Center in East Moline.
Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church in Silvis, where she was a member for more than 40 years. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. today at Schroder Mortuary in Silvis. Burial will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to Hope Creek Care Center.
She was born Aug. 16, 1923, in Hamburg, Ill., to Art and Allie Reed Cloninger. She married Nathaniel Roady April 8, 1940, in Bowling Green, Mo. He passed away Dec. 7, 1976.
She worked in her home as a beautician. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting and crafts.
Survivors include her children, Jean Prescott, Moline, Art (Karen) Roady, Geneseo, Roger Roady, Roscoe, Ill., Carol Sue Hollis, East Moline; eight grandchildren; one stepgrandson; 15 great-grandchildren; two stepgreat-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; sons-in-law, James Prescott and David Hollis; daughter-in-law, Cheryl Roady; granddaughter, Dawn Sharp; two great-grandchildren, Mandy Prescott and Aidan Swank; two sisters and one brother.
The family would like to thank Hope Creek Care Center for the exceptional care given to Vernita.
