Violet Christian

Violet Christian, 77, of Colona, passed away July 11, 2015, at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Schroder Mortuary in Colona. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the mortuary. Burial will be at Bushnell Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the family. Violet was born May 2, 1938, in Macomb, Ill., the daughter of Voyd and Ruth Wishon Morris. She married Tom Christian Aug. 1, 1965, in Carthage, Ill. He passed away April 11, 2005. Violet worked in the cafeteria at Colona Grade School for several years and later cleaned homes. She loved flowers and gardening and enjoyed bowling, dancing, going to the boat and spending time with family and friends. Survivors include her son, Rodney (Ronda) Spiker, Colona; grandchildren, Richard Spiker Jr., Stevan (Talia) Spiker, Catherine Spiker, Jennifer Spiker and Jon Werner; three great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Waldo, Colchester, Ill., and brother, Dickey Morris, Macomb. Violet was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sons, Ronald and Richard; and three brothers, Bob, Voyd and Earl Morris.
