Virginia McBurney, 75, of East Moline, died Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2011, at Genesis Medical Center, Illini Campus, Silvis.
Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Silvis Heights Baptist Church, where she was a member. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Schroder Mortuary, Silvis. Burial will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Memorials may be made to Silvis Heights Baptist Church.
She was born July 20, 1936, in Clarion, Iowa, to Lee and Ruth Swisher Weiss.
She received a bachelor's degree in education from Northern Iowa University. She later helped start the kindergarten in the Hampton schools.
She married Richard McBurney on Aug. 17, 1958, in Clarion.
She was a member of the Good Sam's Club.
Survivors include her husband, Richard, East Moline; sons, Steve (Martha) McBurney, Bourbonnais, Ill., Jim (Lori) McBurney, Metamora, Ill., Pete McBurney, East Moline, Philip McBurney, East Moline; daughter-in-law, Lynn McBurney, Kentwood, Mich.; 10 grandchildren; brothers, David (Carol) Weiss, Kent, Wash., Tom (Linda) Weiss, Clarion; sister-in-law, Sharon Weiss, Adel, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Joseph McBurney; and a brother, Don Weiss.
