William Newman

William A. Newman Jr., 87, Colona, passed away Thursday, April 24, 2014, at home. There will be no services. Schroder Mortuary, Colona, is assisting the family with arrangements. William was born May 25, 1926, the son of William A. Sr. and Elizabeth J. Teddar Newman. He served in the Army during World War II. He married Susie Lee Grigsby on March 10, 1946, in Hot Springs, Ark. She passed away Sept. 24, 2010. William worked at John Deere Harvester at the power house in East Moline, retiring after 33 years. He loved his racehorses and greyhounds. Survivors include his daughters, Sharon Hauge, Karen Newman, Brenda Sue Newman, Patricia A. Newman, Nanette L. Newman, Susan Schultz and Teresa M. Kinkade; 22 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sister-in-law, Betty Newman; brother-in-law, Harvey Dale; and best friends, Lester Thomas and Junior Deerman. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and daughter, Mira Newman.
