William "Ray" Nourse, 87, of Colona passed away Sunday, Sept. 21, 2014, at Genesis Medical Center in Silvis. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Schroder Mortuary in Colona. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the mortuary. Burial will be at Rock Island National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family. William was born on Aug. 21, 1927, in Wessington, S.D., the son of William and Leota Fruehling Nourse. He married Bonita Bryant on July 17, 1948, in Montrose, Iowa. She passed away on April 9, 1999. William served in the Army during WWII. He worked 33 A½ years for International Harvestor/Farmall in Rock Island, retiring in 1983. William enjoyed horseshoes and was a former state champion. He was also the world champion in his class in 2003. He also enjoyed camping, fishing, traveling and visited all 50 states. Survivors include his children, Sherry (Gene) Cioni of Davenport; Larry (Sharon) Nourse of Coal Valley and William (Shu) Nourse of Dubuque; grandchildren, Heather Nourse, Nicholas (Elizabeth) Nourse, Brett (Angie) Thompson and Marissa Thompson; four great-grandchildren; siblings, Delores Umbarger; Dr. Chris Christensen and Doris (Morris) Cameron. William was preceded in death by his parents; wife; infant brother, Dale Christensen and brothers Phil and Darrell Goldie and Guerden, John and Harold Christensen.
