Windell Edmunds

Windell "Gene" Edmunds, 89, of Colona, passed away March 5, 2016, at his home. Funeral services will be noon Wednesday at Schroder Mortuary in Colona, with visitation two hours prior to service time. Burial will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens in East Moline. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. Windell was born May 5, 1926, in Bevier, Mo., the son of Miles and Mary Ellen Durham Edmunds. He married Cecilia Bledsoe on May 29, 1949, in Bevier. She passed away Dec. 6, 2000. Windell worked for American Air Filter for 34 years, retiring in 1985. He also worked as part of Edmunds Electrical doing heating, air and electrical. Survivors include his children, William (Barbara) Bernand, Moberly, Mo., Curtis (Sandy) Bernand, Fort Madison, Iowa, Deanna Edmunds, Colona, and Bryan (Leigh) Edmunds, Colona; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a brother, John Edmunds, Silvis. Windell was preceded in death by his parents; wife; son, Gary, in 1983; and seven siblings.
